RescueCats, Inc. - RescueCats, Inc. was officially founded in June of 1999. More than 40 volunteers help keep our organization running. The kittens and cats were first housed in our walkout basement that was finished just for them, and then they took over our two car garage. Their new home that was finished in March of 2002 which has been called the “Cat House”. It’s about 1200 square feet with heat, air-conditioning, washer and dryer and running water. We also have foster homes which provide care for pregnant cats, moms with small kittens and older cats. We are in search of land (14+ acres zoned AR) with a house where we can expand and meet the zoning requirements, as well as accommodate more cats. We can't do this on our own financially and we desperately need your help. *RescueCats, Inc. is licensed to operate as an animal rescue agency by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. |

RescueCats, Inc. is a no-kill, nonprofit, licensed* organization whose main focus is educating the public about proper treatment of animals, which includes addressing pet overpopulation issues and the importance of spay and neutering. We provide temporary care for orphaned and owner released kittens and cats. Foster care, including shelter, food/water, love, and necessary medical care is given to each animal until it can be adopted into a suitable home. Kittens and cats are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV (Feline Leukemia & Feline Aids), dewormed, vaccinated for RCP (distemper combo), treated for fleas, ear mites, and anything else that might be necessary prior to adoption. The animals are spayed or neutered to stop the cycle of overpopulation and to improve the overall health of the cat or kitten. Each potential adopter is required to submit an adoption application, pay a standard fee, and agree to house the animal indoors. |

The cats are housed in Individual Cages which are 48” tall with perches and each has a towel or cat bed for the cat to sleep on. We are a limited-access facility; when one kitten or cat is adopted, another is taken in. Kittens and cats are not put to sleep unless they are too ill or injured to recover. Adoption fees, release fees and private donations are our only source of revenue to support them. |

Imagine thousands of precious jewels falling from the sky and you hold your hands out to catch as many as you can. There's plenty there! If only you had more pockets! This is what it's like rescuing cats! You want each and every single precious kitty cat to be scooped up into your loving arms and placed into forever-homes where they will be cherished, as they deserve to be. This is the energy behind RescueCats. We are made of dozens volunteers who want nothing more than to help as many cats and kittens stay out of the euthanization chambers, off the streets and find their way into the heart of a caring human. |
