Small Kittens vs. Toddlers |
We do not recommend adopting a small kitten if you have toddlers in your home. Kittens are easily stepped on, and when chased they may become traumatized and turn into skittish cats that hide and become unsocial. Older kittens and young adult cats are better suited for homes with toddlers as these cats are old enough to flee from the toddler quickly. You are ultimately the best judge of what size kitten is best for your household. It is quite easy to teach a toddler how to handle a kitten with care as long as you make sure, at all times, that any contact between the two are supervised closely! If you do choose to adopt a kitten or cat and you have a young child at home, it is very important to beware of the possibility of your toddler or preschooler dropping objects on sleeping cats! It can be FATAL to kitty!
