If you would like to place your cat into foster care, please READ EVERYTHING BELOW. After completing the Relinquishment Form you will be contacted as soon as there is an opening for your cat. Please understand that when you have found a cat, or need to place your own cat, that you need to be patient when trying to place them into foster care. We get many calls each day from people wanting us to take kittens and cats. It just isn't possible to help everyone, and we really do try! RescueCats, Inc. is a no-kill facility and openings are only available after an existing cat is adopted. Cats are NOT put to sleep to make space for new ones. Once you are contacted that we have an opening to take your cat, you must bring the cat to us within 48 hours or the space will be filled by the next cat waiting. Please understand that it isn't fair to expect us to take in a cat that isn't adoptable, let it take the space of other adoptable cats and spend the rest of its life in a cage. We only adopt out cats that can be indoor only cats & can adjust to families with children and possibly other pets. If you need additional placement resources, please browse to Atlanta's Pet Orphans and look under Atlanta Rescue Groups. We DO NOT take in feral (wild, untamed) cats, cats that urinate on carpeting & furniture or spray objects, cats with medical conditions, cats with FIV, FeLV or FIP, cats with a history of being skittish and only wanting to hide from humans, or cats that bite and show serious aggression and cats with Ringworm (skin rash).
More often than not, if you have to use a humane trap to catch your cat or wear welding gloves to handle him, then the cat is NOT ADOPTABLE.
Please do not bombard us with mass e-mails and calls about taking shelter cats. We are full and maintain a long waiting list. If there is ever an opening we work with several shelters and take in cats that are in danger of being euthanized.
1-17-2007 NOTICE: Before you complete our waiting list form... In respect for your time and ours, we ask that you refrain from placing cats on our waiting list if they are NOT adoptable, then *hope* we will take the cat when an opening comes available. We will REFUSE to accept a cat who is NOT ADOPTABLE. RescueCats Veterinarians and RescueCats Representatives reserve the right to refuse any cats that show serious aggression toward people. We do not want to waste your time or ours! Thanks for your cooperation! * We accept donations of carriers, bowls, scratching posts, cages and anything that you would like to donate along with your cat. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, please ask. * Click here to complete the waiting list application (Relinquishment Form)
