If you have found a stray cat, kitten or litter, you must first contact the local animal shelter to report that you have found a cat in case the owner is searching for it. Then check with all neighbors and put an ad in the paper (often free for found pets). Chances are if you have found a healthy adult cat, that there is some upset cat owner out there searching desperately for his/her feline companion! After you are sure that the cat doesn't have an owner, then fill out the waiting list form. It's very expensive to operate a no-kill facility. We take in kittens and cats and care for them until they are adopted...That means our expenses for each cat are higher than shelters that keep them for the minimum amount of time and must euthanize them to make space for more cats. We feed the cats premium foods, use vitamins & supplements to maintain good health, provide veterinary care & we also have maintenance costs for the facility as well as other expenses. For many years we didn't have a minimum contribution, but that put us in jeopardy of having to shut down because we couldn't cover our costs. The only way that we can survive long term is to ask for your help to care for the cats. Most people donate to animal organizations and your contribution to RescueCats provides care for your cat and others in need. We are 501(c)3 and your contributions are tax deductible!
